Application of GIS in Mining and Mineral Exploration is a short course designed to provide participants with practical knowledge to apply GIS for mineral prospecting, exploration, mine development and operations. The training is intended for professionals, apprentices and candidates for mineral, mining and all extractive industries. The training provides concepts, methods and hands-on practices of GIS used in mineral exploration and mining. This course can be tailor-made on request to meet organization needs.

Training General Objective

The objective of the training is to enable officers in mining and extractive industry tp implement efficiently exploration and mining workflows using GIS technologies.

At the end of the course trainees will be able to:

～Integrade geological, geophysical and geochemical data using GIS.

～Employ multispectral, thermal and hyperspectral satellite images to develop signature and indices for mineral detection.

～Analyze spatial data for mineral prospecting, anomaly detection, ore grade and reserve estimation.

～Undertake 3D modeling and develop prototype digital twins for mine managament

～Apply advanced geospatial technologies for mineral exploration and mine operation management.

～Perform GIS based predictive modelling for gold prospecting.

～Practice mining site selection, layout planning and operation impact auditing.

～Model mining and mineral processing pollutions and develop mitigation strategies.

～Create an environmental management and reclamation plans during mine operation and closure.
